Frequently Asked Questions

Consignment Process

How do I get started selling my designer furniture? +

Step 1: Fill in the free valuation form above. Submit photos and details so our team can value your items accurately.

Step 2: We review everything and send you a valuation with our standard contract agreement and T&Cs.

Step 3: Once approved, we arrange to collect your pieces from anywhere in the UK, including London.

Step 4: Your consigned items go through our merchandising process (secure storage, professional photography, cleaning and minor refurbishment where required) before listing.

Product Requirements

What type of pieces can I sell? +

We accept designer furniture and lighting from any decade, from mid-century classics and antiques to contemporary pieces, across seating, storage and tables. Every item is professionally cleaned prior to sale.

We currently don't accept mattresses, large or heavy ceiling lights including chandeliers, wall-mounted storage, kitchenware, or electronics including kitchen appliances.

What brands and designers do you look for? +

We look for recognised designer furniture brands: Roche Bobois, Vitra, Cassina, B&B Italia, Poltrona Frau, Fritz Hansen, Knoll, Ligne Roset and many more. If your item's brand or designer isn't on our list, still send the details. We're constantly expanding what we accept.

How do you authenticate? +

Our expert quality control team verifies each piece's provenance, attribution, construction and condition. Using historical references and attribution marks, we authenticate every item, working with auction houses and manufacturers to corroborate seller-provided information.

Does it matter if my item is slightly damaged? +

We prioritise quality but accept pieces with minor wear and repair them for free. For major repairs, restoration or upholstery, we'll still consider restoring then selling. Just send photos and details of the condition.

My item needs restoration or upholstery, can you organise this? +

Yes, in most cases we handle restoration and upholstery, providing a written cost estimate upfront so there are no surprises.

Pricing

How do you price items? +

Price depends on style, brand, condition and market demand. The more details you provide, like the original purchase price or receipts, the more accurate the estimate. With extensive experience in designer furniture resale, we ensure fair pricing for both sellers and buyers. Final pricing is at our discretion.

What if I don't agree with your valuation? +

Depending on the price you want to achieve, we'll consider listing items above our estimate for a set period. Just contact our team about your requirements.

How much will I earn, and when do I get paid? +

You earn 50%–85% of the net sale proceeds as a cash payment (dependent on value), or 115% of the cash amount as store credit to put toward your next purchase. You choose once your item sells. With our expertise, we're confident we'll secure a better price than selling yourself on eBay or at an online auction.

What will REHAUS do to help sell my items? +

We handle the entire sales process: collection from your home, targeted marketing to the right buyers, minor restoration and professional cleaning, studio photography, secure storage until sold, and white-glove delivery to the buyer's new home. For major restoration, we confirm costs in writing first: no hidden fees.

Selling Process

How do you sell my pieces? +

Most sales happen on REHAUS, in front of an active community of design lovers, but we also list across 1stDibs, Vinterior, Etsy, Pamono, Google Marketplace and eBay for maximum exposure. We handle all sales enquiries and communication, invest in marketing across Google, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Pinterest, and manage the transaction through to insured shipping and white-glove delivery. Completely hassle free.

How long does it usually take to sell? +

Once listed, most pieces sell within 90 days. Selling time varies with market demand, condition, price and brand: sought-after designers move faster. We price competitively and promote effectively to find the right buyer quickly.

How long will you keep my pieces? +

Our standard selling period is 180 days from the listing date.

When will I get paid? +

Once your item sells and is delivered, the buyer has a 30-day return period. Payment is processed at the end of the month following that date. Example: delivery on 20th September means payment at the end of October. The process is secure and transparent for all sellers.

What happens if my item hasn't sold in 90 days? +

After 90 days we may reduce the price by up to 30% to attract buyers. After 180 days we'll review the listing and offer you the option of our monthly online auction, or collection/return. There are no fees except the cost of returning the piece to you.

Exchange

When can I exchange my piece? +

After 9 months of ownership you're eligible for exchange (we plan to remove this requirement in due course).

How much credit will I get? +

If your piece is still in its original condition, you receive 100% of your original purchase price in store credit.

Do I have to pay for collection? +

If you're only exchanging, a collection fee applies. If you buy a new piece at the same time, we deliver your purchase and collect the old one in a single visit, with no collection fee.

How do I use my credit? +

Buying something new at the same time? Your credit is applied against that order. Otherwise you receive store credit to use on any future REHAUS purchase. Shop whenever you're ready.

What if my piece is damaged? +

We can still accept it, but the cost of repair or refurbishment is deducted from your credit.

What if I'm not in the UK? +

Forever Exchange is currently only available to REHAUS customers in mainland UK.

Everything Else

Do I need to package my furniture for collection? +

No. Our team brings all necessary packing materials to transport your items safely. Extra protection is always appreciated: bubble wrap on corners and edges, and covers on fragile surfaces.

Where will my item go, and will you store it? +

Every piece goes to the REHAUS warehouse, where it's stored safely until sold. You're welcome to visit by appointment.

Are my items insured? +

Yes. From the moment your items leave your house until they arrive with the person who bought them, they're fully insured.

How long until my item is listed on your website? +

Up to 30 days, depending on the collection date and how much restoration or cleaning the piece requires.

If I change my mind, can I have my item back? +

Yes, as long as it hasn't sold. After the 14-day cooling-off period but before the 180-day consignment period ends, an administrative fee of 25% plus VAT of our estimated profit applies (based on the listed price at the date of cancellation), payable before arranging return. See our terms for details. In all other circumstances, just contact our team. It's been a pleasure for thousands of sellers so far.
