Seletti is the Italian brand that refuses to take a room seriously. Romano Seletti started it in 1964 in Cicognara, near Mantova, importing household goods from Asia, and under his son Stefano it became something else entirely: a monkey holding up a lamp, a plate half Ming and half Meissen, a chair shaped like a hamburger. Every Seletti piece here is an original, authenticated and restored, then delivered in 1 to 5 days. Originals only.

Seletti, Irreverent Italian Design Since 1964

Seletti was founded in 1964 by Romano Seletti in Cicognara, a village in the Viadana district near Mantova in Lombardy. It began as an importer, bringing inexpensive household goods back from Asia to sell into Italian markets. That trading instinct never left the company; what changed is what it chose to do with it. Under Romano's son Stefano Seletti, now the company's art director, it turned from importing objects into inventing them.

What it invents is design with a straight face and a joke underneath. Marcantonio's Monkey Lamp, a resin primate holding a bare bulb, became the company's signature. CTRLZAK's Hybrid tableware, first shown in 2012, slices bone china in half so one side is Eastern and the other Western. From 2013 Seletti has worked with Toiletpaper, the wordless image magazine Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari founded in 2010, putting its surreal photography onto stools, rugs and plates. In 2017 Studio Job added BLOW and a run of fast-food furniture, including a hot dog sofa. Alessandro Zambelli drew Memorabilia and Daily Glow; Diesel Living with Seletti runs alongside all of it.

New, Seletti is accessible rather than luxury: the Monkey Lamp sits in the low hundreds and most Hybrid pieces well below that, sold through the brand's own shops, Selfridges and design retailers. Which is precisely why the copies exist, and why buying a checked piece matters even at this price. Every original at REHAUS is authenticated, restored where needed, and delivered in 1 to 5 days. Design doesn't depreciate, and Seletti's resin and porcelain clean up and stay bright. The Forever Guarantee and a 30-day home trial mean reduced risk. Browse the originals.

Seletti: frequently asked questions

What is Seletti?

Seletti is an Italian design brand founded in 1964 by Romano Seletti in Cicognara, near Mantova in Lombardy. It began as an importer of household goods and became known for witty, irreverent lighting, furniture and tableware, made with designers including Marcantonio, CTRLZAK and Studio Job, and through a long collaboration with the art project Toiletpaper.

What is the Seletti Monkey Lamp?

The Monkey Lamp is Seletti's best-known piece, designed by Marcantonio: a hand-finished resin monkey holding a bulb, made in sitting, standing, hanging and ceiling versions. It is the design most people picture when they think of the brand, and it is also the one most widely copied, so provenance is worth caring about.

What is Seletti Toiletpaper?

Toiletpaper is the wordless, image-only magazine founded in 2010 by the artist Maurizio Cattelan and the photographer Pierpaolo Ferrari, built on surreal, glossy, unsettling photography. Seletti has produced Seletti Wears Toiletpaper since 2013, applying those images to stools, rugs, cushions, plates and lighting. The pieces are art objects you can sit on.

What is Seletti Hybrid?

Hybrid is a bone china tableware collection designed for Seletti by the studio CTRLZAK and first shown in 2012. Each piece is split down the middle, one half decorated in an Eastern idiom and the other in a Western one, so a single plate carries two ceramic traditions. It has since extended into glass and textiles.

Where can I buy pre-owned Seletti in the UK?

REHAUS sells authenticated, original Seletti in the UK. Every piece is checked, restored where needed, and delivered nationwide in 1 to 5 days, with the Forever Guarantee and a 30-day home trial. Because Seletti is widely copied and widely resold by private sellers, buying from one company that stands behind the piece is the point. Stock is one of one.

Is pre-owned Seletti worth buying?

Yes. The pieces are made in hard-wearing resin and porcelain with colour and print that clean up well, so a used piece stays bright. Buying pre-owned also puts a genuine original within reach of what a copy costs new. Every Seletti item at REHAUS is authenticated, restored where needed, and backed by the Forever Guarantee and a 30-day home trial.

How is Seletti delivered, and can I return it?

Each piece is delivered in 1 to 5 days, with white-glove delivery complimentary on qualifying orders. Every order comes with a 30-day home trial, so you can live with it before committing. If it is not right, returns are straightforward. Because each piece is one of one, it is only truly yours once it has shipped.

Why buy Seletti from REHAUS?

Every Seletti piece is authenticated, restored to a high standard, and delivered fast across the UK, with the Forever Guarantee and a 30-day home trial.
