Verdict: 6.9/10

Most people reviewing a Natuzzi sofa are not reviewing the same sofa, and that single fact explains almost every contradictory opinion about the brand. Natuzzi is three brands wearing one name: Natuzzi Italia, the luxury line designed and made in Italy and sold through its own galleries; Natuzzi Editions, the contemporary line produced in regional plants and sold through multi-brand retailers; and Divani&Divani by Natuzzi, a franchise chain founded in 1990 that mostly lives in Italy.

The company behind them is a genuine giant. Founded in 1959 by Pasquale Natuzzi, a nineteen-year-old upholsterer from Puglia, it industrialised the leather sofa, moved to Santeramo in Colle in 1973, and in May 1993 became the first Italian company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Today it runs 630 mono-brand stores and around 600 galleries worldwide, employs about 3,200 people, and reported €318.8 million of revenue in 2024. Pasquale Natuzzi is still executive chairman; Antonio Achille runs it day to day.

The review scores tell the same split story the brand does. Trustpilot holds Natuzzi at around 4.7 out of 5 across more than 10,000 reviews, and Natuzzi Editions at 4.8. The independent site Reviews.io holds a Natuzzi Italia London gallery at 1.5 out of 5, and Reddit threads run from devoted to a widely shared one asking whether the sofa order they signed was a scam.

In my view, Natuzzi Italia is a real luxury product with real Italian manufacture behind it, Editions is competent mid-market leather at a fair price, and the brand's biggest problem is that the label does not tell you which one you are buying. This review scores the whole picture, and covers the one question every Natuzzi buyer should ask before paying a deposit.

Key Features

  • Italian upholstery group founded in 1959 by Pasquale Natuzzi; headquartered in Santeramo in Colle, Puglia since 1973
  • First Italian company listed on the New York Stock Exchange, in May 1993, still traded under the ticker NTZ
  • Three brands: Natuzzi Italia (made in Italy, own galleries), Natuzzi Editions (regional plants, multi-brand retailers), Divani&Divani by Natuzzi (franchise, founded 1990)
  • 630 mono-brand stores plus around 600 galleries worldwide; 2024 revenue of €318.8 million; roughly 3,200 employees
  • Manufacturing in Italy, Romania (serving EMEA), Quanjiao in China (serving the Chinese market) and Brazil (serving South America); the Shanghai plant closed in October 2024 and North American Editions production moved to Italy across 2024 and 2025
  • Trustpilot approximately 4.7 out of 5 across 10,000+ reviews as of July 2026; independent site scores run far lower for individual galleries

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Leather is the house craft: Natuzzi built its name industrialising quality leather upholstery, and the material knowledge shows in the Italia line
  • Natuzzi Italia is genuinely designed and made in Italy, with named-designer collections and consistent gallery presentation
  • Comfort engineering, motion mechanisms and recliners are a real strength, developed over decades at industrial scale
  • Editions offers honest mid-market leather sofas at prices the pure-luxury brands cannot touch
  • The scale is reassuring on parts and continuity: this is a listed group with its own plants, not a label on someone else's factory

Cons

  • The Italia and Editions split is poorly understood at the point of sale, and buyers regularly review one while believing they bought the other
  • Individual gallery and dealer experiences vary sharply: the same brand carries a 4.7 on Trustpilot and a 1.5 on Reviews.io for a London gallery
  • Aftercare disputes, sagging complaints on heavily used seats and slow resolution dominate the critical reviews
  • The group has been loss-making recently, with a €4.1 million net loss in the first quarter of 2025 on falling revenue, context worth knowing behind any long warranty promise
  • Made-to-order lead times from Italian production are quoted in months, not weeks

Natuzzi Pricing*

Natuzzi pricing only makes sense once you separate the labels. Italia is priced as Italian luxury: made in Italy, gallery-sold, named designers. Editions is priced as upper mid-market: regional production, retailer-sold, value-engineered. The table below reflects UK retail listings across both.

*Indicative bands from UK Natuzzi galleries and authorised retailers, July 2026. Italia is quoted per configuration and leather grade, so gallery quotes vary widely; Editions pricing varies by retailer. Verify before purchase.

Comparison callout:

  • Natuzzi vs BoConcept: The most searched head-to-head in the band. Natuzzi is Italian, leather-led and comfort-engineered; BoConcept is Danish, fabric-led and configuration-led. At equivalent spend the build is broadly comparable; the aesthetics are opposites.
  • Natuzzi vs Sofology and DFS: Editions competes here on leather at similar money, and generally wins on material. The aftercare patterns in reviews are similar across all three.
  • Natuzzi Italia vs B&B Italia and Poltrona Frau: The aspirational comparison. Italia is well made, but the Milanese design houses carry the named-icon catalogues and the resale market. Natuzzi sofas, even Italia, depreciate like retail furniture.
  • Natuzzi vs REHAUS: For the price of a typical Natuzzi Italia three-seater, the REHAUS secondary market sells authenticated original designer pieces, including Natuzzi itself, restored, delivered in one to five days, and built to hold their value.

On that last point, the numbers are worth seeing plainly. REHAUS currently lists authenticated original Natuzzi from £725 to £3,622, including a leather Relevè at £3,000, a Plaza sectional at £3,622 and a four-seater Wave by Nika Zupanc at £2,300. That is Italia-grade leather at Editions money, with the depreciation already absorbed by the first owner.

Verdict: 7/10

Natuzzi Quality and Build

How it holds up after the first year is where the spec sheet matters, and with Natuzzi the answer depends on which factory your sofa came from, which is why the label question runs through this whole review.

The headline numbers:

  • Leather: the genuine strength. Natuzzi industrialised leather upholstery and grades its hides across protected and semi-aniline finishes. Higher grades wear in; entry grades wear out. The single most valuable thing to do in a gallery is have the grades explained side by side
  • Frames and suspension: industrial-scale engineering with decades of refinement, particularly in motion furniture. No systemic frame-failure pattern in reviews
  • Seat cushions: the recurring complaint. Foam softening and seat sagging on heavily used positions inside two to four years appears repeatedly in critical reviews, including a widely read case of a £5,000 sofa whose seats stretched and sagged within months and became a replacement dispute
  • Italia vs Editions construction: Italia is made in Italy; Editions for EMEA is made primarily in Romania, with Chinese production now serving China only and North American production moved to Italy across 2024 and 2025. The engineering is shared; the materials, tolerances and price points are not
  • Motion and recliners: well developed, USB-era feature sets, and the usual caveat that more mechanism means more to go wrong after year five

To my mind, the fairest reading of the evidence is that Natuzzi's materials and engineering are better than its aftercare. When a Natuzzi sofa is right, it is quietly excellent leather furniture. When it is wrong, the reviews describe a slow, dealer-dependent path to resolution, and that is the risk you should price in, especially through third-party retailers where responsibility is shared.

What a Natuzzi sofa actually costs you per month

A £4,000 Natuzzi Italia three-seater, kept four years and sold on, typically recovers only a modest fraction of its price on the open market, leather helps, but retail furniture depreciation still applies. Call it £55 to £70 a month of real ownership cost. An authenticated original through REHAUS runs the other way: originals hold their value, and REHAUS lets you trade the piece back, so the equivalent cost of ownership sits closer to £0 to £20 a month. The £2,300 authenticated Wave on the REHAUS floor makes the same point in one line: someone else already paid the depreciation on it. Browse authenticated original sofas to run the numbers yourself.

Verdict: 6.5/10

Natuzzi Core Product Categories

Leather Sofas

The house speciality and the reason to consider the brand at all. Italia's leather sofas are the full expression: Italian hides, Italian factories, gallery specification. Editions translates the same language into mid-market money and mostly succeeds. In both cases, spend your attention on the leather grade rather than the silhouette; it determines how the sofa looks in year six.

Verdict: 7.5/10

Recliners and Motion Sofas

Decades of industrial motion engineering show here, and the category is a genuine Natuzzi strength in the way recliners are a Sofology strength, but at a higher material standard. The Re-vive style recliner programme and the motion sofas are the pieces to test in person. The mechanism caveat applies as always: aftercare matters most exactly where there is most to fail.

Verdict: 7/10

Armchairs and Accent Pieces

Strong in the Italia line, where named-designer armchairs give the galleries their character, and the lowest-risk way into the brand's leather. The authenticated market agrees: Natuzzi armchairs, like the Bond pair currently at REHAUS for £1,380, are reliable pieces at reliable prices.

Verdict: 7/10

Natuzzi Editions Ranges

Judged on its own terms, Editions is honest work: value-engineered leather sofas at £1,200 to £4,000 through multi-brand retailers, with a 4.8 Trustpilot profile of its own. Judged as "a Natuzzi", it disappoints buyers who thought they were getting Italia. It is a good mid-market product wearing a luxury brand's name, and both halves of that sentence matter.

Verdict: 6.5/10

Beds and Casegoods

The extension categories, Italia-led, competent, and priced with the sofas. They exist to complete gallery rooms rather than to lead the range. Fine to buy alongside a sofa; rarely the reason to visit.

Verdict: 6.5/10

Italia and Editions: One Name, Two Products

This is the section to read before any Natuzzi showroom visit, because the single most consequential fact about the brand never appears on the sofa's label in large type.

Natuzzi Italia is the luxury line: designed in Italy, made in Italy, sold through Natuzzi's own stores and galleries, priced from about £3,000 and rising quickly with configuration and hide. Natuzzi Editions is the volume line: designed in Italy, built in regional plants, Romania for Europe, with Chinese production now serving China only, and sold through multi-brand furniture retailers at roughly a third to a half of Italia money. Divani&Divani is the Italian franchise chain and rarely concerns UK buyers.

The confusion is not academic. Review threads regularly feature buyers who paid Editions money and expected Italia manufacture, or Italia money without understanding what distinguishes it. The distinction also explains the review-score split: the 4.7 and 4.8 Trustpilot profiles collect at the brand level, while the harshest scores collect around individual galleries and disputed aftercare cases, like the 1.5 on Reviews.io for a London gallery across 60 reviews.

The practical rule: ask which line the sofa belongs to, where that specific model is made, and which leather grade the quote uses, and get all three in writing on the order. Natuzzi's own restructuring makes the provenance question current: the group closed its Shanghai plant in October 2024 and moved North American Editions production to Italy, so even recent answers may be out of date for the model in front of you.

Verdict: 6.5/10

Customer Support

  • Channels and hours: Galleries and stores lead the experience; the brand replies to the majority of public reviews. Through Editions retailers, support is shared between retailer and brand, which is where accountability gaps open.
  • Delivery and lead times: Made-to-order Italia pieces ship from Italy and are typically quoted in months. Editions through retail stock can be faster. Delivery experiences in reviews are generally fair; timing communication is the weaker half.
  • Aftercare and complaints: The weak spot. The critical reviews cluster on disputed faults, sagging assessed as normal wear, and multi-month resolution paths, mirrored on both Trustpilot's critical tail and independent sites.
  • Corporate context: The group has been trading through a hard patch, €78.1 million of revenue in the first quarter of 2025, down 7.6%, with a €4.1 million net loss, and is mid-way through a plant-footprint restructuring. Stability at group level is fine; just anchor warranty expectations to the entity that sold you the sofa.

Verdict: 6/10

What are Natuzzi's Review Ratings from Review Sites?

As of July 2026:

  • Trustpilot (natuzzi.com): approximately 4.7 out of 5 across more than 10,000 reviews, with praise clustering on gallery staff, leather quality and delivery teams
  • Reviews.io (Natuzzi Italia, London): approximately 1.5 out of 5 across roughly 60 reviews, clustering on sagging seats, disputed quality claims and slow aftercare
  • Reddit and forums: the full spectrum, from long-term owners praising twenty-year-old leather to a widely shared thread asking whether a gallery deposit was a scam after a hard-sell experience

So which is true? The same answer as our Sofology review, with an Italian accent. The point-of-sale platforms measure the buying experience, which Natuzzi does well. The independent sites and forums measure the ownership experience, which is where sagging seats, leather disputes and slow resolutions surface. Both are real. Read the post-delivery reviews for the specific gallery or retailer you are buying from, and weight those most.

Final Thoughts

Natuzzi earns its 6.9 the honest way: real materials, real factories, real design capability, sold through a structure that makes your individual outcome harder to predict than the brand's scale suggests. Buy Natuzzi Italia if you want new Italian leather furniture, you have had the lines and leather grades explained, and the gallery's own post-delivery reviews check out. Buy Editions if you want honest mid-market leather and you are clear-eyed that it is the volume line. In both cases, get provenance, grade and lead time in writing.

And before you sign either order, look at the third option the galleries never mention. The authenticated original market sells the exact thing the Natuzzi brochure is selling, Italian leather, designed pieces, delivered rooms, with the depreciation already paid. REHAUS currently lists authenticated original Natuzzi from £725 to £3,622 alongside the wider canon, B&B Italia, Poltrona Frau and Cassina, each restored, authenticated, delivered in one to five days, and backed by a Forever Guarantee and a 30-day home trial.

Frequently Asked Questions About Natuzzi

Is Natuzzi a high-end brand?

Natuzzi Italia is a genuine luxury line: designed and made in Italy and sold through the brand's own galleries, typically from £3,000 upward. Natuzzi Editions, sold through multi-brand retailers from around £1,200, is upper mid-market. The two share a name and design language but not factories or price points, so "is Natuzzi high-end" depends entirely on which line you are looking at.

What is the difference between Natuzzi Italia and Natuzzi Editions?

Natuzzi Italia is made in Italy and sold through Natuzzi stores and galleries. Natuzzi Editions is designed in Italy but produced in regional plants, primarily Romania for European buyers, and sold through third-party furniture retailers at roughly a third to a half of Italia prices. Ask which line a sofa belongs to and where that model is made before ordering.

How long do Natuzzi sofas last?

The leather typically outlasts the cushions. Higher-grade Natuzzi hides wear in over decades, and long-term owners report leather lasting twenty years. The recurring complaint is seat-foam softening and sagging on heavily used positions within two to four years, so choose firmer specifications and rotate cushions if longevity is the priority.

Is Natuzzi worth the money?

Italia is worth it for buyers who want new, made-in-Italy leather furniture and a gallery experience, judged as a purchase that will depreciate like retail furniture. Editions is fair value against Sofology-tier rivals. If year-five value matters, an authenticated original at the same spend, including original Natuzzi from £725 at REHAUS, is the stronger economic buy.

Who owns Natuzzi?

Natuzzi S.p.A. is a public company, listed on the New York Stock Exchange since May 1993 as the first Italian company to list there. Founder Pasquale Natuzzi remains executive chairman, Antonio Achille is chief executive, and the Natuzzi family remains central to the business, which is headquartered in Santeramo in Colle, Puglia.

What is the best alternative to a Natuzzi sofa?

For the same money as a typical Natuzzi Italia order, the authenticated original market offers Italian leather and named design with the depreciation already absorbed. REHAUS lists original Natuzzi from £725 to £3,622 alongside B&B Italia, Poltrona Frau and Cassina originals, restored, authenticated, delivered in one to five days, and tradeable back under the Forever Guarantee.
